WHAT MOVERS CAN’T TRANSPORT IN SINGAPORE (AND WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD)

🚫 What Movers Can’t Transport in Singapore (And What You Should Do Instead)

So you’ve booked your movers, packed up your boxes, and you’re ready to move… almost. 🧐
But did you know there are certain things movers in Singapore can’t (or won’t) transport?

Don’t worry, we’re here to help! Whether you’re moving out of an HDB, condo, or landed home, here’s a quick guide to what movers cannot carry — and what you should do instead.

🔥 1. Flammable or Hazardous Materials

Think:

  • Paints and paint thinners

  • Gas cylinders

  • Fireworks

  • Cleaning solvents

  • Aerosol cans

Movers are not licensed to carry these items for safety reasons — and most lorry drivers in Singapore are not allowed to transport flammable goods.

What to do instead:
Dispose of them properly at designated NEA-approved recycling centres or check with your town council for collection advice.

🐶 2. Live Animals or Pets

Sorry fur parents — most movers (including us) can’t transport live pets. It’s not safe or legal to put your pet in a moving truck, even for a short trip.

What to do instead:
Use a licensed pet transport service or bring your furry friend with you in a pet carrier via car or taxi. There are even dedicated pet taxis in Singapore!

🧪 3. Perishable Food Items

Frozen meat, milk, ice cream, or anything that can spoil quickly — movers don’t have refrigerated trucks, so these aren’t suitable for a regular move.

What to do instead:
Try to clear your fridge before the move, or move chilled items yourself using a cooler bag or ice packs.

🗝️ 4. Valuables, Cash & Important Documents

We know you trust us (thank you!) ❤️ But it’s always best to carry the following items with you personally:

  • Jewelry

  • Cash

  • Legal documents

  • Passports

  • IDs & certificates

Pro tip: Keep these in a separate bag or small box, and bring them with you in your car or handbag.

🧯 5. Items Too Large or Too Risky to Move Without Special Equipment

Items like upright pianos, safes, or extremely large fish tanks may require specialist movers or equipment.

What to do instead:
Let us know early — we may recommend a partner who can help, or provide a custom quote if special tools or manpower are needed.
